Passage Space - “Ephemeral Passage”
Design 101, Pratt Institute School of Architecture (Fall 2000)
Professor: Annette Dudek
By Sara Maniez (formerly Sara Kellner)
This first-year project explored the challenge of translating an ephemeral human action—the act of breathing—into spatial and material form. The design sought to capture the fleeting, disappearing quality of breath by measuring, defining, and expressing it over time.
Constructed from MDF, basswood, and glue, the final model used voids to define space and basswood steps to suggest levels, producing a sculptural representation of passage, rhythm, and impermanence.
